Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now
I've been a passionate fitness enthusiast since a young age, and coaching driven individuals to reach their full potential has always been a core passion of mine. I started my journey as a personal trainer, where I helped people push past their limits and achieve their goals. Over the past seven years, I transitioned into the tech space to further develop my skills, focusing on scaling organisations and, more importantly, supporting the growth and development of sales professionals. I thrive on mentoring and empowering aspiring salespeople, providing them with the tools, mindset, and confidence to launch and accelerate their careers. Helping individuals break into an industry with limitless opportunities for growth and personal development is a huge driver for me, and I find immense fulfilment in seeing them succeed and thrive.
What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales
Before getting into tech sales, I started my career as a personal trainer, where I worked closely with individuals to help them achieve their goals. That experience made me realise how much I enjoyed coaching and guiding people—but I wanted to apply that passion in a more career-driven setting. This led me to transition into the insurance industry, where I launched my professional sales career. Wanting to further develop my skills in business development, I took on an SDR role to learn the fundamentals of sales and what it takes to succeed. That hands-on experience, combined with my passion for mentoring, ultimately led me to pursue leadership, where I could coach and empower sales teams to grow and excel.
What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales
Career development is by far the most exciting aspect of sales. The more effort you put in, the more limitless the opportunities become. This industry offers endless career paths, whether it’s progressing into leadership, specialising in strategic roles, or exploring different facets of business. Plus, sales is a continuous learning experience—enhancing your communication skills, sharpening data analysis, and developing strategic thinking, all of which are invaluable in any career path.
What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales
Stay open-minded and embrace mistakes—they’re valuable learning opportunities that will only help you grow. Be patient; rushing your sales career can limit your true learning, which may hold you back in the long run. Most importantly, never stop learning and always seek feedback. The best sales professionals are those who continuously look for ways to improve, welcome different perspectives, and refine their skills every day.
Why did you decide to join Tangent as a Mentor and why should others join as Mentors too
I wanted to join Tangent because I've seen firsthand how challenging it can be to get started in the B2B professional space, especially when many companies prioritise experience. This makes it harder for individuals with less experience to stand out. My goal is to support those early in their careers by helping them enhance their sales skills, giving them the edge they need to break into the sales industry and succeed.
