Tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to now
I'm currently SDR Team Lead at Kefron. We offer an AP automation tool that helps to streamline finance processes using AI and Machine Learning.
My role involves managing the day-to-day activities of the SDR Team. This means that a typical day for me usually involves prospecting but also supporting the other SDRs to reach their target in the most efficient way.
What was your journey into a career in Tech Sales
I started my career with recruitment and worked with businesses to place HR professionals in the midlands. After moving back to London, I transitioned to recruiting technical positions for start-ups. It was really this that made me pursue a career in tech sales.
Through working with loads of innovative businesses I realised I wanted to work directly with customers to use software to solve their problems. It's been challenging but rewarding and I've learned loads along the way.
What would you say are the best things about working in Tech Sales
The best thing about working in tech sales is the opportunities you get. There isn't an industry that doesn't leverage the use of software. This career allows you to become a true industry expert and use your expertise to solve business challenges.
Being rewarded for extra effort is also something that is great about tech sales. It pushes you to hit and exceed your targets which can be rewarding financially but also emotionally. The feeling of a deal coming through or booking a meeting with an elusive prospect really can brighten your day.
What advice would you give to someone who is just about to start their career in sales
Although clichΓ©, I've found the best advice for those starting out is to just work hard. Sales is a career where those who go above and beyond are rewarded.
Sales isn't just about cold-calling or cold-emailing prospects, it's about being creative in your approach to solving someone's problems.
So, think outside the box, do what's different and the results will come.
